Use an Amazon downloader file for software installation
The Amazon downloader is essentially a "middleman" - this file, when run, calls Amazon's servers and downloads the actual installer file for your program. This complicates matters, slightly, when using Crossover, and as a result there are a few extra steps to installing programs in Crossover that come from an Amazon downloader.
- Go to Crossover's Programs>Run Command menu. Pick a bottle (keep track of which bottle it is)and click Browse. Browse to and select the Amazon downloader which will probably be in your Downloads folder. Open and run that.
- The Amazon downloader should now successfully run and download the actual installer file for your program. By default, the downloader will save your installer to "C:/users/crossover/Desktop". Don't change this default location, just allow the download to complete.
- When the download is complete, *don't* choose to install the file, as this will most likely fail. Instead, close the Amazon downloader program.
- Now, go into Crossover's Configure>Manage Bottles menu, select the bottle you ran the Amazon Download with, and click the Open C: Drive button. Browse to
drive_c/users/crossover/Desktop
and there you should find the .exe file that is your program's actual installer file. Drag this file onto your real Desktop, or into your Downloads folder, and then proceed to install your program into a new bottle.
