AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) Tips

The main advantage of playing this game with CrossOver instead of the unofficial native Mac port is that you can use the Launcher to install the windows version of mods. This means that you can easily install any mod for this game instead of having to use a (probably untested) mac version. This is very simple to do so if you've got the game installed (have a look here if you don't) so you should be playing modded AM2R in no time!

The only thing you'll need to download is the mod itself. I'll be using the Unofficial Multitroid mod in this tutorial, but the process should be the same with all the other mods. The Unoficail Multitroid mod can be downloaded here but there are lots of other mods to be found on the official AM2R Discord Server in the "#am2r_mods" channel. The discord server is also a great place to go for help if you're having issues with mods, or if you want to play with other people with the Multitroid mod that I'll be installing!

Since we're using CrossOver, make sure you download the Windows version of the mod, NOT the mac version if there is one. Once you've downloaded the mod, DO NOT unzip the file.

Open the AM2R Launcher through CrossOver, and navigate to the "Mod Settings" tab at the top of the window. Click on "Add New Mod" button. Select your mod file. (You can access your Mac's folders such as the Downloads folder by clicking on the "/" folder in the file selection dialog, and then navigating to "Users/yourusername/Downloads") In my case this file is called "UnoficialMultitroidWindowsv1_6_1.zip".

After a second an alert will pop up to say that the mod was successfully added. Click Ok, then go back to the "Play" tab in the launcher. Make sure that the mod is selected in the "Current Profile" dropdown, (mine is called "Unofficial Multitroid") and then click Install. Once it's installed, you can click Play and the game will launch with the installed mod!
