Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro Tips

Getting Acrobat 8 Pro to Run on Crossover 9.0 Linux

For me, the program installed fine but when I ran the application it crashed on startup. I did a search on the particular fault and Adobe's website indicated that it was missing license files. Apparently there's something wrong with the ability to run the licensing part of the application under Crossover. I went to my windows partition and copied the two files in the following directory:

C:/Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 8.0/Acrobat/alm_config_files

AdobeConfig.xml
aul.xml

These files belong to an Acrobat Pro 8 installation that is already licensed to run. After copying the files, the application runs on Crossover Linux, but it is rather buggy.  There are a number of popups that don't work etc, but I can edit and mark-up PDF's in Linux using Acrobat Pro. I haven't found something that I liked the same in the Linux world so this is good enough for me for now.

Regards,

Dan
