Accuterm doesn't always show up in the panel (what Microsoft would call the taskbar). Usually, switch workspaces will force it to show up, sometimes not. This problem has been observed in KDE, Gnome, and Cinnamon. It is not an issue in MATE or xfce. I'm using MATE for specifically this reason.
