There's presently no CrossOver installer for the MS Access 2002 Runtime package, but I managed to get it working on my system. As expected, it works about as well as MS Access XP, since it's really just a rearrangement of the same set of code.
Installing it under CrossOver can be a bit of a hassle, however.
Here are the steps I used:
- Create a Win98 bottle (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Using cxsetup: install IE6
- Using cxsetup: install msis31, windows installer, dcom98, mdac, Windows OLE components (part 2), MSXML
- Using cxsetup: install MSARTXP.EXE using the "unsupported application" mode
- Manually install MSARTXPSP3.EXE
- Install jet40sp8_wme.exe (needed to make some VBA database stuff work correctly). This part was tricky, as it complained about a missing executable in c:\windows\system32.
- If necessary: install some extra fonts, like Arial Narrow, that come with Office but not with Access Runtime.
It would be great if CrossOver could automate the above process using cxsetup so that it would work easily for everyone.
