I've done some experimenting with this game and I've come up with the following configuration that should work every time you use this game, in order to avoid glitches similar to this:

I am currently running on the latest Mac Mini (Mid-2011) with CXG 10.2.1. The issue seems to be caused by the shadow effect in-game but, however, when sound is enabled the gameplay also stutters.
