I am running crossover for mac, version 7.1. Reading mostly seems ok, although clicking on things doesn't always result in the expected behavior, and when a new post opens it displays the bottom of the post rather than starting at the top. Posting, however, is unfortunately a mess.

• The first two characters on the left are cut off.
• Text does not wrap properly, although it does go invisible after where it should wrap.
• Rewrapping fixes the invisibility problems, but then clicking in the post to edit it results in an access violation in module riched20.dll
• Finally, when I go to send or save it tells me 'you did not make any changes to your message' :(

You might try installing some runtime support components into the bottle. One useful one may be Internet Explorer 6. For others, you can see them in the list of supported software packages once you uncheck "Hide service packs and dependencies" on the Installer Assistant tab of the preferences dialog.

I can confirm all these issues, except the riched20.dll violation, on Linux with Crossover version 7.1.0. I never used Xnews for posting only for reading and downloading, so I never ran into this.

I don't think installing Internet Explorer will help Xnews much. It might be necessary to allow it to show images in posts, but I'm not sure.

One thing Xnews does obviously show is a lack of performance in Wine's windowing, which is used intensively by Xnews.
