just working fine

as expected, XMLSpy is really working fine.
I can create and test my XSLTs as I did by using windows.
Altova wants linux customers too, so they give you a short and WORKING documentation howto run XMLSpy by using wine

It doesn't work for me, I get a stack trace after the splash screen (can send on request)

Running Gnome 2 on Gentoo 2005

Now nearly working (It seems I'd specified the DLL wrongly on the command line)

However, when I edit the name of an element in XSD view, XMLSpy crashes with dump (available on request)

This only occurs after 8 characters in the name of the element. Strange!

No issues when the name is entered in text mode though.
