X-Men Legends 2 : Rise of Apocalypse Forum

I am trying to run X-Men Legends 2 via CrossOver on my 2021 Macbook Pro (Apple Silicon, M1 Max Chip, macOS 14).

I've tried multiple different bottle options, and I've even tried the "X-Men Legends 2" bottle from within CrossOver. However, none of them work. After trying to run XMen2.exe, I always get the same error message "Display Failed! Unable to initialise graphic display. Resolution and FSAA have been reverted to default." The installer never opens; I just get that error message.

Anyone able to offer any help or hope?

Hi there,

Newer Mac displays removed support for smaller resolutions that many older games default to. We're working on a solution, but it's a really tough problem to solve. For now, you can either use an external display or see if there's a way to force the game to open in windowed mode.

Thanks so much! I am able to get the game running. I plugged in another display, set that display to "use as: main display" in the display settings, and then it booted up no problem.
