Keeping rights correct for the com ports

I have been trying to figure out the rights issues in Linux (F9). Using the chmod 666 command makes it work for the ports but by default when unplugging and replugging the USB converters the rights go back to 660. So it would seem that we need to be a member of the 'uucp' group (which is the group default on CX for the usb ports) to fix it. I will report on what happens. Then we should be able to just unplug and replug without losing the com port connections.

OK! I figured that one out. In F9 what you need to do is make the user under which CX is installed or anyone using it I suspect, you just need to add the user to the group uucp. To do this just do the following:

System>Administration>Users and Groups><root password>select user>check uucp

Then to activate it you must logout and login again.

After this the port will be available to the program when you unplug it and re-plug it.

I have seen the port change number in the ttyUSBx when doing that but for the most part it does re-connect when re-plugged.

Now you do NOT need to chmod 666 on the /dev/ttyUSB* command.
