WoW hanging at intro screen

Hiya!
World of Warcraft is hanging during intro.
Visible Process: B.net starts, calls WoW from launcher, WoW hangs at a black screen.
Some Pertinent Details: Cxoffice 21.0 on Xubuntu 20.04.03 LTS . Win7 bottle.
Some Flavor Commentary: It worked yesterday on ... whatever Cxoffice I had yesterday before foolishly agreeing to update.
Slightly Impassioned Plea: Is this a known bug? May I revert to an older version of Cxoffice? Is there something simple, relevant to this, I don't know about?
Message of Appreciation And Thanks: Thank you for taking your time to read this message! I sure appreciate you!

Hi David,

Oh no! I tested a new install on CrossOver 21 with ubuntu 20.04, and it was working well for me. A couple of things to try:

  1. Yes, you can absolutely go back to an older CrossOver version - go to your Account, choose My Downloads and go to Archived Downloads to find older CrossOver versions. You can see if that fixes the problem for you.

  2. You can also test a new install on 21 and see if that works better. I know that's not super convenient since it's a huge download, but it's possible that will work better too.

Best,
Meredith

I had this issue with an older version of crossover but as of the most recent build it's working perfectly for me. One thing that did help me initially was adding -d3d11 to the launch options.

I help maintain a few compat lists, and I therefore have a vanilla wine prefix for things, and the baseline for getting all Blizzard games working in bnet is win10 x64 and dxvk. Wow should work still on win7, if thats all you play. But ensure that your vulkan stack is still working fine. On RHEL/Fedora/SuSE, occasionally there are significant enough library updates to a system update that a reboot is needed, try that with Ubuntu. So reboot and check vulkan works.
