Game Initialization Failed

After last update to version 7.3.5.25864 World of Warcraft fails with Game Initialization Failed message.
That happens even with special Crossover build

Does anybody find the solution?

I've been having the same problem. I've emailed support who asked for log files and are investigating apparently.

Bullshit. They should have tested this before release. When you look at CodeWeaver's front page, they say you don't need a windows license because CrossOver can run almost everything. Truth is: The majority of Windows-Software does NOT work with CrossOver and it's getting worse with every version.

You can try their special wow build from the "Tips & Tricks" tab. It works. But I don't like how CodeWeavers creates special builds instead of creating patches that work for every application, like they would in windows.

I'm sorry but if you feel this way then go back to windows and have fun with the windows 10 updates that breaks its self. As for the special build its was that or break crossover from my understanding. If you really want things to change for Linux / Mac you need to fight for software equality. Would so love for someone like Blizzard to step up and do the right thing by adding Linux support.

Ohhhhh and this should help to get the game running

You need to go into your Wine Configuration and highlight WoW.EXE and change windows version to WINDOWS 10 and apply it .... should work after that

windows 10 does allow you to login. It seems blizz is getting ready to only support 64 bit systems and dx11

@David: I have not been using Windows for many years now, so for me there is no "going back" as I'm not new to Linux or trying it out, as you might think. My software and my development environment is here. Using Windows as my main operating system is a thing of a long forgotten past. I'm also a fan of CrossOver and the efforts being put into it. What I don't like is, how Codeweavers sells a paid product and makes promises they don't keep. When you sell a mature product for money and make promises, people can rightfuly expect those promises to be kept. Adding just a GUI to Wine is not enough.

@Bachsau I understand it's not as polish as it should be and I'm still a little new here so maybe its my lack of info and learning on this. Yes there is issues but like you I don't want to go back to windows (sadly my work is windows only) and for now we are stuck running a program to run a program with any update may or may not have issues.

I agree with the previous opinion. I have on my laptop Windows 10 and everything is in order.
