Blank screen under Crossover Games 10.1.2

No longer crashes under 10.1.2, but fails to ever display anything.

Popup at start: "CreateDevice failed, 8876086A S=1 F=0876 C=086A (2154)()".

Hi again...

..okay ... I think only because I refuse to believe Apple cannot
screw over a BSD so badly it acts like Windows... ie; the blow away
OS and reinstall thang ... I've been refusing for months now to do
that on the Mac ; I don't think Apple are that stoopid =) ....

...so ... I just now sat down to throw some orange pips at the Mac.
I reinstalled winuae, and it crashed CXG outright as before, on an
xserver error. After a bit of digging, it would seem the MacOS 10.7
update path ill-considers the apparent presence of xquartz being
installed, and goes breaks things ; reinstalling xquartx 2.6.3 (the
latest 2011-07-20 release) seems to have resolved that problem...

..back to winuae again -- this time it starts without the xserver
crash, but upon start it throws the same error you're getting..

  "CreateDevice failed, 8876086A S=1 F=0876 C=086A (2154)()".

If you go into the winuae GUI's miscellaneous options, and change from
direct3d to directdraw (and I think choose something other than defaultram),
it seems to not throw that error -- it doesn't seem to work either like
that, no it's a no win .. just a datapoint ; I'm on my way out the door
now, but I'll have another look at it later tonight..

Update:

This worked for me...

http://www.winuae.net/files/InstallWinUAE2320.exe

...new version -- I removed the previous version and installed
the above, and it seemed a -lot- happier, but I haven't got time
to play around right now -- you wanna grab that version and see
if it's saner on your hardware? I'll update the crosstie when I
crosscheck it on linux...

I built a new bottle using the c4p, but installed WinUAE 2.3.2 into it instead of 2.3.0.

First attempt to start crashed Crossover. After I reconfigured bottle to not enulate virtual desktop, WinUAE started OK without any error message, but I still never see anything but a black window.

I installed XQuartz 2.6.3 before this attempt, since you thought that made a difference on your system. However, I think Crossover is actually using their own X server, so I don't see how XQuartz could make any difference.

I wouldn't have thought xquartz would have any bearing either, but,
winuae was crashing cxg outright (emulated desktop or not)..(extra
setting in bottle.conf or not) before reinstalling it ; now it doesn't
do that ... it just doesn't work.

...I had a closer look at 2.3.2 ... as I was rushed at the time, I
didn't have a good chance to check it ; now that I do, I find it's
nearly as broken as 2.3.0 is -- the only difference (and what did
fool me at the time) was with 2.3.0 it was going blackscreen ; with
2.3.2 it actually displays the amigaOS 1.3 insert disk image, but
now looking again I see it's doing 4fps ;^/ ...sorry about that...

...so I'm back to thinking regression or macos 10.7 related...

Hopefully this weekend I'll find some more time to look at it, but
my gut feeling is this -- email info@codeweavers.com to report the
problem, as I'm getting the distinct feeling no manner of altering
things is going to help any here, and the Ninjas do like to know
about regressions asap (even wrt unsupported apps ;)...

Cheers!

...these 30-day long weekends are getting to me =)

.... I think I'm going to call it a regression, but, it's frigging
impossible to do a regression test wrt CXG ; I can't go back to a
previous CXG release, as only the latest supports macos 10.7 ...fufu..

...I just want to test a winuae version now that was released -before-
they added the directx stuff...ie; the older winuae version that gave
us the opengl display filter option....

...well, during one of my other distractions, I discovered it didn't
run on the iMac with debian installed either ; getting back to my
linux box, I found it's not working there anymore as well...

..this suggests things broke somewhere during CXG-10, and it wasn't
picked up by me or anyone else -- understandable, it is a low profile
target and native ports of UAE exist...hmm...

...that's an understatement ...I just checked against wine-1.3.26 and it's
broken there as well... so this has happened somewhere between wine-1.2.x
and wine-1.3.9 and as such has reflected into the crossover builds..

Just to say that the 'blank window' problem persists under CXG 10.2.
