WinMX not working in Enlightenment

I have not been able to get WinMX working in Enlightenment. (0.16.6) . It worked fine in KDE and TWM, but after install, it just flickers its way down the screen and disappears. I think it has something to do with the way it is creating its menubar/panel daemon/helper, or the way it creates a large, empty (fullscreen?) window to anchor its app window to? If anyone has a trick/tip to get around this, fine.

Also, I would prefer a native program to take on the challenge of creating a client to interface with the WinMX Peer network. From waht I can tell, this peer network is separate from all others, and while WinMX can also access OpenNap networks, the Peer Network is where most of the action is. Also, that is where WinMX gets its power boost by being able to concurrently download the same file from multiple users.

What happens when you run it unmanaged or in desktop mode?
Add one of the following to ~/.cxoffice/dotwine/config
[AppDefaults\\WinMX.exe\\x11drv]
"Managed" = "N"

[AppDefaults\\WinMX.exe\\x11drv]
"Desktop" = "800x600"

tried both of these, both separately and together, with no effect (no chan ge in behavior.) Thanks for the try, though.

Eric

I just tried it in Enlightenment myself and found a way to get it to work:

First make sure you have:

[AppDefaults\\WinMX.exe\\x11drv]
"Managed" = "N"

in your ~/.cxoffice/dotwine/config
Now, after starting WinMX, you should see a Wine Systray window. In that window, right-click and choose 'Reset all windows'. The WinMX window should now be visible.

Thanks Julius. It's working now after a restart of Enlightenment. The Systray and any open windows are now visible in all desktops, but being able to minimize the windows to the systray certainly make that issue much more bearable. Now, on to getting my firewall setup to support winmx.
