Shoutcast/DNAS
So I was pretty impressed to find that the Shoutcast plugin for Winamp 5.33 works flawlessly through Crossover 7 on OSX. I use this dsp plugin in order to broadcast a live dj show I do every week over the internet through a DNAS server that the site uses.
I'm actually in the process of downloading the DNAS server and will try to configure it to run through Crossover. Based on the success of the Shoutcast plugin streaming capabilities when installed on OSX, I'm feeling optimistic but will report back on what I find.
Window Dragging
As far as functionality, the only criticism I can make presently is that the windowing system of Winamp doesn't quite perform exactly as it does in Windows. The Winamp player allows for its components to be broken up into separate windows which can either be hidden from view, spread across the desktop, or joined together to make a conglomerate window. When windows are joined in this latter mode in the Windows OS, you can drag the whole conglomerate window across the screen. It seems in Crossover, however, that even if the sub-windows are joined together, only the window your mouse is over will move when you click it instead of the whole group.
Nested Menus
Winamp has what I certainly would regard as a stupid menu system. The Main Menu in windows is accessed by clicking the little sine wave on a waveform grid icon in the left hand corner. When using Winamp through Crossover on OSX, this icon is not visible forcing the user to open the Main Menu through its hotkey Alt+F. For user that aren't hotkey savvy - cough the average Mac user cough - it could be difficult to start using this app without that menu (though admittedly one could argue this is more of a Winamp UI design flaw then a major issue with functionality transfer when porting the app to OSX).
