Motherboard is Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
With XOffice 5.0.1
Mainly wanted to use Winamp for mp3PRO plugin and DSP (stream to Shoutcast server) plugin.
- I had to install to 'unsupported bottle'. 😐
- During installation, I had no choice for modern / classic skin, so classic is used.😐
- MP3pro and DSP plugin works fine.😊
- The Winamp windows are not always visible above others in workplaces, so a good point.😊
- If I unckeck 'Show WInamp in Taskbar' in 'preferences', main window disappear and I found no other solution than to un-install Winamp and install again (neither alt+w or checking/unchecking 'display main window worked, force winamp to exit doesn't display the main windows anymore at launch ). 😥
- Only the 'waveOut v2.1' in 'preference/plugin output' worked to listen sounds.
- I only use winamp to play MP3s, but files can't be in /mnt/ directory at least because winamp hangs with a big error window 😥 (let me know if dump is needed). There is no problem to add files/directories located in drive_c.
- I have also not tested video features.
- I have experienced some hangs when :
- Winamp has been correctly closed and another application wants to play a sound just after (I had THunderbird setup to play a sound when new mail comes in). I notice this hang doesn't happen if I wait around 5 seconds to play a sound from linux (XMMS and so on).
EDIT 2006-01-29 : No sound can be played by linux OS when Winamp is opened.
Even with winamp properly closed, it is not possible to play sounds from native linux OS,
then session refuse to close, so CTRL-ALT-DEL in needed to close the session,.
After a new session start, native sound is OK .. until Winamp is launched again...
