Testing the last(s) version(s)

Hi guys

I've tested the new Winamp 5.541 and the older 5.51 versions on the new Crossover 7.02. My first impression is that it is perfectly compatible with Crossover. The main thing here is the playing music one, and both of them are performed fine. Known issues: Any of this versions can't load 100% its GUI, so we have the fuly loaded player on one hand and a black box with the playlist inside and the other windows (visualizations, video, library) on the other. Besides, you have to figure out where the close window buttons are, and it gets very annoying after the third missed click. Also, both of them sort of flicker whenever the mouse goes around the toolbar menu buttons.

Guess the best option still is not to touch too much the just-after-install config, at least on the 5.51 version, and everything will work ok.

I have one last thing to say: it would be awesome if drag&drop option was available, i mean when making the playlists, because this isn't working right now. I would like to pick my songs from the finder window and drop them on the winamp playlist, just as i used to do on my pc.

I will keep on testing xD

It might be worth enabling a virtual desktop window for the bottle, using the winecfg control panel.

Drag and drop is more complicated. We're working on some changes which may eventually enable that, but it's a long way off.

I'm noticing some issues under 7.1 on mac. It doesn't seem to like not having a menubar and as soon as any item is click or the window is dragged, a random menu bar pops up and then the program is pretty unresponsive.

EDIT: carlos noted the gui issue with the default theme. Also, the Milkdrop (haven't tried others) visualizer does not work (in pro mac or games mac builds) and is directx powered.

Some glitches I have experienced using Winamp 5.541 on Mac OSX 10.5.5

Main problem:

  • The new skin works sometimes, and sometimes not. By this I mean sometimes the Media Library looks weird an does not act the way it should. The tree of media on the left side is often not working - it is sometimes not there at all. That last part goes for all content in the media library as well.
    Other problems:
  • The new skin takes up a lot of memory. Finding your way to the Preferences > Modern Skin > CPU Time Resolution and reduce this to minimum.
  • iPod does not load automatically. I have found a work around on the forums which enables the iPod as a device and making it show in the library. But even though writing files seem to work when you try it, they actually do not get written on the device.
  • Enqueue files do not work. It is even not showing (Right click in the playlist).
  • "Jump to file" sometimes makes the program crash completely.
  • The time does not show in the modern Bento skin.

Many iPod owners who use Winamp use the ml_ipod-plugin. This does not work, as some system32/ files is reported missing.
