I was able to successfully install Williams Arcade Classics in a Win98 bottle on the following machine:
Soyo SY-7ISA+ Intel i815 Motherboard
Intel Pentium III 866 MHz Processor
512 MB SDRAM
PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 AGP 8x 256 MB DDR
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI Sound Card (SB0220)
Samsung CD-RW/DVD Drive Model: TS-H492A/RSWN
Dual Boot openSUSE Linux 10.3/Windows XP Pro
CodeWeavers CrossOver Games for Linux Version 7.1.2
I tried all of the Windows versions of the games in this compilation except Sinistar, and they seem to function almost as well as on a real Windows machine. Having played both the original Defender arcade game and the Defender emulation in this compilation for many hours on a real Windows machine, I can say that this game in particular plays ever so slightly slower on my system. This is a general timing issue, and not a framerate issue. I suspect that only someone who has played it for as long as I have could notice the difference, but it is perceptible.
I actually prefer the included DOS versions of the games in this compilation package, as they seem to slightly better match the original arcade games.
The Windows emulations ship with and require DirectX 1.
