Wenlin 4.0.2

Just reporting to say that Wenlin 4.0.2 works perfectly well with CrossOver 9.2 or 10.0 series (i.e. gold standard)!

At first, I was concerned that the 'pronounce' function did not work.
It turned out that Wenlin 4 update does not include the sound/pronounciation files, but they were easily copied from my Wenlin 3 bottle....!

New versions of Linux (e.g. openSuSE 12.1) use the IBUS system, rather than SCIM, to input non-Latin characters e.g. Chinese.

Unfortunately, as of CrossOver 11.2, IBUS doesn't work with Wenlin 4.0.2

Strangely, using IBUS to input Chinese characters does work with 'notepad' running within the same bottle as Wenlin.

I've also been using Wenlin in Crossover 20 on a Manjaro Linux system. It works perfectly.
Wenlin 4.0.2 has run well in Crossover/WINE for a good number of years now. Let's hope that when the Wenlin developers update the program's ancient GUI, they will code it so that it continues to run perfectly in WINE.

using Wenlin 4.1.1 on Crossover 21.0.0 beta (on either openSuSE Linux Leap 15.2 or Chromebook Linux 'Crostini') works very well.

Gnome's IBUS now works well with Wenlin.
The Chromebook/Android Chinese input system also works well with Wenlin running under Linux(/Crostini)!

Testing on CrossOver 23.7.1, on Linux Mint 21.2, Gnome (Wayland)

Works just as well as before. unfortunately those 'black boxes' still appear (instead of the romanization/pinyin) when using the 'mouth' pronunciation tool.

Able to input using SunPinyin/ibus (Gnome). Apparently Mint prefers if I use fcitx (rather than ibus), but Gnome doesn't seem to want to use fcitx even after selecting with the 'input method framework' tool.

The directory to place the 'w3sound' (sound/pronunciation) directory is in 'drive_c/users/Public/Documents/WenlinTushuguan', together with directories such as 'Flashcards', 'Fonts', 'Text', 'Text2' etc..
