Watchtower library - very slow to open

After the latest update to my Watchtower Library, it takes a long time to open. The frame opens immediately, but it is taking a while to fill in the publications and content columns. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the 2016 edition from the CD and publications and content fill in immediately. It's not a computer problem because it happens both on my Surface Book 2 laptop, and my DELL desktop, both with lots of RAM and fast SSDs. Any idea what's happening?
