I'm on a 2007 black macbook running leopard and I haven't gotten the 2007 library to work yet. I would also appreciate any tips or workarounds.
BTW the 2006 library worked well.
Thanks,
Alicia
I tried several times today to get it loaded on my Macbook Pro laptop running Leopard. No success so far. Had to create a win2000 bottle for the installation to run. The process seems to complete but when I try to open WTlib I get an error message saying that library files could not be found. If someone finds a workaround I'd love to hear about it!

Dear Lathe,
Yes, I've managed (eventually) to get it running. I found two ways to get a working Watchtower Library 2007 on Mac! That is, Intel Mac running OS X 10.5 and CrossOver 6.2, though it will likely work with other versions too.
Method 1: Use CrossOver, marrying Watchtower Reader from the 2006 edition with 2007's data! This is a "lateral thought" I had yesterday. Happily but strangely perhaps, it works! This is the preferred way because you keep CrossOver's native Mac graphics interface.
The procedure, in outline goes as follows: install Watchtower Reader (note, reader not library!) 2006 edition. Set it up with native COMCTL32.DLL to fix the tooltips issue, if you wish. Next, copy the "rs_data" folder from the 2007 CD-ROM to "C:\Program Files\Watchtower\Watchtower Reader\E" in the bottle. Finally, run the 2006 reader. The splash window still says 2006, but the contents are 2007.
This is a fudge, I know.
Method 2: Use MacPorts (www.macports.org) to run Wine version 0.9.52 (the latest). This works but has some disadvantages. For example, the graphics driver relies on X11 so works much slower than the CrossOver counterpart. It also runs well under Linux using Wine 0.9.52.
Bottom line: 2007 edition and CrossOver 6.2 don’t like each other! I've not yet found the cause, except to say that whatever the cause, later versions of Wine fix it. Hopefully, as CrossOver catches up with the later versions, the problem will disappear. CrossOver uses an older, more stable Wine (0.9.34).
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Roy
Roy,
Thank you for going through all of that. I will try it out.

I've followed your instructions, but I can't get it to work. Maybe because I have the Swedish version? the rs_data that you're referring to is in fact rs_data_e on my computer . . .

I've never used the Swedish version. However, I can't see why, at least in principle, it would not work for any language.
Thing to watch out for, though: make sure that you are copying the rs_data to the same directory level on the target drive, i.e. rs_data goes to exactly the same place as the folder it replaces rather than underneath it. Otherwise, Watchtower Library will ignore it.
If you're copying using Finder, you should get a Replace confirmation. Is that what you are seeing?

Roy

Another thought: if you're still having problems, could you mail me your CD so I can investigate the problem? I'll mail it back. The license agreement precludes putting it on the Internet.
Yet another thought, perhaps we should transfer to the 2007 application forum. It seems a little strange. Here we are discussing how to run 2007 edition using 2006 application but in the 2005 forum!

I just completed adding the Finnish WTLIB 2007 to my wife's Macbook (which also has WTLIB in English 2007 on it).
Unlike when I did the English version where (to my recollection) I merely copied the rs_data folder over the existing one and everything was fine, with the WTLIBfi it wouldn't start after doing that. So what I ended up doing was:
A) Copying the SUB FOLDER named PUBS from the CD to the computer's RS_DATA folder either by copying over the exsisting PUBS folder or by slightly altering the original (on the computer) PUBS folder's name (say to "PUB") and then copying it over.
B) Once that is done copying the WTxx.LIDX (xx in this case FI but would correspond to your language of the WLIB) to the RS_DATA_xx (again xx referring to the language letters) root folder.
After this the DAILY TEXT for 2008 was working and all the 2007 data was available!
Also the WLIB english edition works just fine too still installed on its own XP bottle.
P.S. PLease note that to find your "program files" folder as would be seen on a Windows machine go to the MANAGE BOTTLES (usually right click on the CorssOver icon) and there go to ADVANCED and then OPEN C: IN FINDER. Also note that the "rs_data" folder typically now includes the extension of the language in my case "rs_data_fi" but since there is only ONE "rs_data" folder I am using the term "rs_data folder" generically to cover all the different ones (different language ones)
