Warhammer Online is working with issues

CXGames Version: 7.2 (Linux)
Additional Software: DirecX 9 Nov. 2008
Distro: Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty
Graphic driver: Nvidia 180.44
Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra

Problems and help:

Patcher - Bug:
When the patcher window doesn't appear, kill the patcher and try again.

Handshaking - Bug:
Sometimes, the game hangs on handshaking when connecting to the realm. Move the mouse and klick around, be patience.

Gameplay performance and game starting problems:
Deactivate the shader optimization and run the game on lowest details.

Characterrendering issue and texture problems:
There is a bug, that character models do not render, just only their weapons. In a few zones, there are verticle lines on the floor textures. There exists no workaround for the rendering issues on cxgames, maybe in future versions.

What works:

  • Patcher, with some flickering (looks glitchy)
  • Installer without problems
  • Character selection (Characterrendering issue)
  • Joining world (without problems on my machine)
  • Instances (without problems on my machine)
  • Scenarios (without problems on my machine)
  • Ui-Addons (without problems on my machine)
  • Sound (without problems on my machine)
  • Chating (without problems on my machine)
  • Trading (without problems on my machine)

we may have a fix for the Character Rendering issue, specifically. A patch was just submitted to our nightlies, and some user testing would be great. If anyone would like to test, please email info@codeweavers.com and reference the Character Rendering Issue in Warhammer Online, along with bug 4968.

(Please note that if you don't have a valid support entitlement we can't give you a nightly, so this call for testers only applies to current customers)

in version 8.1.3 all the same from what he said, i don't know if you mean the current nightly build will fix it, as i see that your post is from april.

I would really like to see characters display, if i can't rely on crossover for anything, i don't see why i even bother.

Distro: Opensuse 11.2 64 bit
Graphic Card: Geforce 8800GT

You don't know why you bother? Perhaps this will help....

This seems to be a long standing issue/winebug ....see;

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6955

As you will see there, a couple of the codeweaver's devs are actively chasing
this issue - it's still an issue as of wine-1.1.34 -- a lot of the time, bugs
like this have to be fixed in mainstream wine first, before they filter down
to the crossover wine builds. There appears to be a hack available for mainstream
wine...you could give that a try...

Like many winebugs, if/when this one is fixed, it will be directly related to the
time/effort poured back into mainstream wine by codeweavers' devs -- by supporting
or (as you put it) 'bothering' with codeweavers, you help them help improve not only
crossover products, but mainstream wine as well.

Cheers!

i don't know how to make a wine patch, there doesn't seem to be any dummy guide lol

Hehe...well, there is a good guide...see;

http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Building

The patch is here..;

http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25040

The rest, as they say, is up to you :)

Cheers!

thanks, i found the one for linux

But i got the patch installed i think without errors (after and trial and error because i got hunk failures and then finally i saw no error messages and assumed the patches installed) but the problem still exists?

Hi,

Hunk errors are probably a bad thing to be seeing - against which
version of wine did you try to apply the patch to? I haven't checked
the patch at all myself - it could be it needs a bit of reworking to
apply cleanly to whatever wine version you're using. Let me know, and
I can have a look at it for you...

Cheers!

I tried the patch to fix the character rendering(the patching itself was successful), but I got some kind of shader error when I try to start the game (which I didn't get before the patching). I have a NVIDIA 8800 ULTRA. Guess we will have to wait for the Wine team to fix this.

Has this been fixed. It is still occurring.
