CXG Mac 7.1.1

Regretfully, I need to put this as "Known not to work" HOWEVER... that's not entirely true.

It doesnt work for me because the -installer- fails. A reasonable assumption is that the game would mostly flawless (as much as LOTRO is) once the game itself is launched. The issue is the stuff leading up to it (installation, launcher, patcher)

There is nothing I'd like better than to get rid of Windows from my iMac.

Some extra info...

Tried with 2K and XP bottles... same result: Checks for DirectX and installs if not present. Installer launches and proceeds through first few windows, but after the License Agreement is passed, it simply closes leaving an orpahned Warhammer Online link in the "start" menu (so to speak). Appears that this stage is when the transfer of files actually happens

Log file available, if anyone wants it.

Just a heads up - Aric is making some progress with this; he's got it installing, and then it promptly crashes his Mac, hard. We're still concerned that the use of Punkbuster is going to make anything we do irrelevant, but we're hoping to get it working well enough to test that theory.

Cheers,

Jeremy

I have been in Closed beta for a long while, and now the game finally released. Punkbuster has been totally rewritten in Warhammer Online, and is not the same client as we have seen in other games. They did not give us 100% detail, but stated as followed that it ONLY collects data and sends it. It does not use API fingerprinting, and will not ever boot anyone. The dev's have made this quite clear as we had a fourm on the beta pages that got deleted so I can't transfer the information over. The forums was directed to wine and getting warhammer to run, and the process of punkbuster in the game. Now will people be banned for using winehq or crossover because the wrong data is sent. That we have to wait to find out.

junkee, that is very encouraging information. We are working on making the installer work, and we have the game starting up. So far we wondered why we weren't kicked due to PB problems, and what you said might explain it. Nevertheless, we'll try to get in contact with the game developers to clear up such confusions.

Please make warhammer online work for Mac ! :)

any update on this, or the progress of getting War to install and run?

I was just thinking about that. :) (yeah, response is a month late. I stopped playing when LOTRO's Moria expansion hit)

I'll check on that soon... if the installer actually works. No longer have an active account, so can't test the game itself.

Doesn't look like it. Just tried to run the retail (original release) install DVD. Installs DX9 without much issue and then promptly crashes. (CXG 7.2.0)
