Startup error

Hi folks.
OK, I had an older Macbook Pro and I installed DoW Gold on CoG 8 and patched it and it worked fine. Since then I got a newer MBPro and CoG 9 with some different hardware so I decided it would be easier to reinstall. I installed just like I did on the other Mac, and I patched all the way up.

When I start, I think it's trying to run the graphics configuration program. I get the following error:
'ERRORS: Could not find required data. Make sure you are running this utility from your Dawn of War directory.'

Maybe I'm forgetting a step from last time. Anyone else encounter this?

Hi,

I haven't encountered it myself, but I do recall Ken saying that there were
some issues with CX not setting the current working directory correctly. To work
around it, you would need to add the --workdir option to the commandline/shortcut
launcher...ie; --workdir /full/path/to/Dawn of War directory ...

Hope this helps..

Cheers!

Yes i remember having this problem but in the end i copied the program files from the old bottle into the new bottle

Alex

P.S. try Dons method first though :P

I'm a relative noob when it comes to command line editing. Can you give me more specific directions?

Hi,

Sorry, if you're a newbie at CLI, then I'm less than that when it comes to OSX (I don't have a Mac).
If I even try to give you the Mac equivalent to the command, I'll be flying by wire, invariably get
it wrong, and cause you frustration in so doing....so I'm not going to do that ever again 8-)

Hopefully a Mac user will be able to advise you...

Cheers!

If the Run Command dialog isn't working (perhaps failing to set the working directory), you can use Terminal. In the Run Command dialog, toggle open the Debug Options section. Then click the Open Shell button. This will open a new Terminal window and configure it to operate with CrossOver and the bottle you had selected in the Run Command dialog.

In that window, you can issue a command like:

wine --workdir 'c:/program files/example' 'c:/program files/example/whatever.exe'

If you want a more concrete example, describe the command line you are trying to execute.
