no cd in drive?

I've got a (hopefully) simple problem some of you might be able to shed some light on:

I've got codeweavers games running on a macpro and installed soulstorm yesterday. When I try to run the game though, I am confronted with the error message "no cd in drive". The cd is in the drive so there must be a setting for cdrom that I am missing.

any help would be very much appreciated!

MacOS does not allow direct SCSI access to cdrom drives, so the copy protection system cannot verify the disk and refuses to start the game
