I get the famous CD-ROM drive error upon starting W3C ROC.
XOverGames 8.1.4 on Ubuntu64 (9.10)
It looks like a failing CD copy protection, but I have tried to patch to v1.21a (which allegedly does not check for the CD)
and v1.24c as well as a no-CD patch, in an Win98 and WinXP bottle.
Can someone confirm this or get past it?

Did you move over all the files required to the WarCraft III folder before trying to launch it. For the official no-cd crack to work from Blizzard, you have to mover over I believe .mpq files, I don't remember but it is in the chanlog on their site and in the WarCraft III folder after a update.
this is no longer a problem with XOverGames 9.x 😊
