Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Forum

With the change from SuSE 9.1 to 9.2 Warcraft stopped working for me (and that is with the cxoffice versions 3.0.1 to 4.2).

The funny thing is, that installation works perfectly well but starting Warcraft afterwards results in an error telling me that I should insert the original Warcraft III CD into my CD drive. This is strange, because the CD drive is not even accessed while starting Warcraft (no blinking lights!). I've checked the Warcraft CD setting in the registry, but the settings are ok. Unmounting and mounting the Warcraft CD manually made no difference.

A no-cd patch is no option for me, because of heavy use of battle-net.

Can this be a SuSE 9.2 specific issue? Any suggestions?

Could it be that Warcraft III checks the CD title on startup, because I just saw that under CrossOver Office the CD title is just "Warcraft II" instead of "Warcraft III"?

Ive been testing the demo but I plan to buy the box set this week. After I get the full game cd's ill give them a spin and see how things go here. Ill let you know something within a week or so.

nah its a problem with crossover and the cd protection
you have the same problem with the expansion frozen throne

The funny thing is that on Suse 9.0 or 9.1 this whole thing worked great: CrossOver Office 3.0.1 with Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne AddOn without no-cd patch.

So I ask myself, what makes the difference between SuSE 9.2 + cxoffice 3.0.1 and SuSE 9.0/9.1 + cxoffice 3.0.1?

really hmm maby its like photoshop CS kinda works sometimes but only by some quirk 😛
