VMware vSphere Client working

I tried to install vSphere Client 5.5 using the standard install process, but it didn't work. So I created a new bottle as Windows 7, then ran the installer. I had to skip the IE 7 install. It worked and is running on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system fine. I also installed vSphere Client 4.1 which is also working under the same bottle.

The same for me ! (5.5u3 and 5.1)
Pass the warning of Windows7 incompatibility and skip IE7 installation.
VMware Data Recovery (vDR) plug-in installation working.
Update Manager plug-in installation does not.

I can confirm that the method described by Robert Oldham works for version 6.0.0. It is possible to perform basic management of virtual machines. However the console functionality does not work as described in other threads in this forum. When opening the console I receive "The VMRC console has disconnected...attempting to reconnect."

New try, and no error for IE7 installation.
Continue to pass the warning of Windows7 incompatibility.

Same here. Not functioning. Annoyingly even the ESXi's webui Console does not work.

Also can't get the standalone Mac version of https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VMRC800&productId=490 to work only because the WebUI > Summary > Launch Remote Console doesn't do anything at all when I select it.
