I was able to install the standard version with sp6.
I originally tried to install this using the supplied crosstie on the overview page. However once I clicked next on the first page of the installer it would crash.
There is a bug in crossover which makes it so that the only bottle compatible with the installer is win98. The installer crashes as soon as you click next on any other bottle type. This is supposedly fixed in winehq but I can easily reproduce it.
If you install it into a win98 bottle however you lose the ability to run the debugger properly. This is a separate bug affecting wine.
So the compromise I have come across is that I create a winxp bottle
Change the windows version to windows 98 using winecfg
Install VC++ 6.0, skipping the dcom98 install
Then set it back to windows xp using winecfg
To install SP6 it is best to install the MDAC 2.8 runtime first then install SP6
Since the crosstie tries to install VC6 into a win2000 bottle it is probably best to remove the crosstie until someone fixes the installer bug.
