Getting this working on macOS Big Sur

I had a fun time getting this to work on my own machine, so I thought I'd post an updated set of instructions that worked for me while trying to install this. Using CrossOver 21, it seems like the old Paradox Launcher actually works now, and I can use it to enable mods rather than the old command-line based approach from before.

Until a dedicated bottle for this is published, here's how you can do this with Steam. All software listed below is available to be installed using "Install a Windows Application":

  1. Make a new generic Windows 10 bottle and install Steam into it.
  2. Install Victoria II.
  3. Install .NET Framework 3.5.
  4. Install DirectX for Modern Games.
  5. Install Windows Media Player 9 and Direct Music.
  6. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (10.0) Redistributable (32-bit).

You should then be good to go! You might also want to install https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.11255 to make the game more performant by increasing the available memory available to the application.
