Noise Problem in URU: Complete Chronicles

Have installed the GOG version of URU: Complete Chronicles using Drossover/Crosstie. The game installed perfectly, and runs well except for unpredictable and very loud noises in various game locations. The first occurs in the desert scene as Zandi's trailer is approached. Normal music is present up to about 20 "virtual" feet from Zandi. Then his radio music suddenly blasts out at full volume. Once this happens, leaving the area does not stop or reduce the noise. Also, in other game areas such as Relto, loud buzzing comes and goes as the avatar walks. This happens randomly throughout the game.

I have researched this from my layman's point of view and have read that this may be a Wine audio problem. I have also read that multi-stream audio requires an appropriate API, but I don't know how to respond to that comment. The problem Zandi radio noise runs at normal volume out-of-game if played on iTunes. Also all ".ogg" and ".wav" audio tracks in URU:CC play normally out-of-game.

The audio codec used in my Gigabyte motherboard is Realtek ALC892. This works fine on all streamed audio from the Net and from locally stored music. The problem seems local to URU:CC.

Suggestions? Thanks for reading!

Probably in the entry for the actual game. Thank you for asking, I have moved your post!

This is not a title we've actually got. I would recommend opening a Support Ticket for help.

Explain that you know the game is unsupported. Gather two log files from when this occurs. One without any flags and one with the flags:

+tid,+mmdevapi,+winmm,+driver,+msacm,+midi,+dsound,+dsound3d,+dmusic,+mci,+oss,+alsa,+coreaudio

If you are unfamiliar with how to gather a log file, we have a tutorial available:

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/submittechsupportlog

And the final bit of information you should include:

  1. The version of your Operating System
  2. The version of CrossOver
  3. The GPU (graphics card) in your system

Thanks for the instructions and the link. On that web page there is a note that a file greater than 2 MB cannot be accepted. I was able to send a gzip of the "no flags" debug log, but the debug log with flags "gzipped" is 5.6 MB, so I didn't try to send that one. I have the file on my SSD... if someone would tell me how to get it to Codeweavers support, I would send it.
