Intro only

Hi there,
I tried running the UFO: Extraterrestrials Gold bought off Steam and it works only up to the intro. I patched it while reading the other forum on the normal version of the game but it didnt work. Anyone else has the same problem? (The disc version was ridiculous overpriced at USD$60 plus?!, where I found it...)
