Status update

I'm currently working on getting Tropico 4 working with Crossover.

Having problems right now however as it tries to install .NET 3.5, which does not work with Crossover. Currently attempting to get .NET 3.0 working to see if we can run the game on an older .NET release.

Updates on how things are going will be posted here. If anyone has any luck or suggestions please feel to post below.

Just to clarify with .NET 3.5 - theres no way it will currently work with any version of Crossover. See the .NET 3.5 crossover section for compatibility details.

Hi.

I tried to fix Tropico 4 on my computer too. Didnt work.
Like you said, .NET problem - cant install .NET.

When will this problem get a fix?

I tried to install Parallels and Windows on it, after that, I installed Tropico 4.
It did start and so on, but the problem I get in the game is that when I have the mouse over a building, it disappear. And its buggy.

If now .NET will go and install, and we run Tropico 4. Will it the USE the whole graphic card or will it just use the half?

Have a 512MB card and in Parallels I just can use 256, and that sucks, cuz the game get laggy and stuff. I hope this will work as soon as possible, its frustrating to sit and watch other people play on their PCs 😊

Any improvement since last post??

Hi...

...all things going to plan, extra .NET supports will be
part of crossover 11 (when it's released)...

Cheers!

Installed Tropico 4 via Steam and not working

CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i3
GPU - RADEON HD 6670
OS - Ubuntu 12.04
Crossover - Crossover Linux 11.0.3

For once manged to get start up screen, but computer hanged after showing that. Now every time I try to start game it throws a program error.

Nothing much gets written into the log. The Program error debug message is more detail, but it is too long to post it here I guess.

Log output

I installed Tropico 4 into the newest Crossover (11.3.1) from Steam and it's almost perfectly working. I didn't try very high detail levels, but at least medium seems to be working ok at 1280x800 resolution.

Things that don't work are:

My hardware is:
Macbook pro late-2012
2,6GHz Core i7
8GB RAM
NVidia Geforce GT 650M

Tropico 4 runs pretty well with detail maxed out on my setup at 1920x1080:

Fedora 16
Intel Core i7 2600k, overclocked to 4.4 GHz
16 GB RAM (runs well under 8 as well)
GeForce 660 2GB
nVidia 304.64 drivers
3.6.3 Kernel
Crossover 11.3

Issues:

Game becomes unresponsive during load screens. Usually recovers, but after a long session, it will sometimes crash out.
Slight tearing when moving the camera

I'm going to fire up a game with Crossover 12 tonight and see if that stuff has improved. If not, I'm going to play around with debug mode and see if I can find issues.

Any info on Tropico 4 using Steam/Crossover12?

It works.

I'll make a detailed post this weekend with details.

It seems to work with 12.1.0-1: I installed .NET 3.5 and then Steam into a separate bottle.

There is always a long delay of doing nothing when you start the game, but it does start. Changing graphic settings mid-game crashes it, and it restarts in a safe mode after - so that's fruitless, only change them at the start menu.

On a Mac with an AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB running OS X 10.8.2 it crashes every time I change resolution, even when I'm not in game. Using the game option to run in a window worked fine, and then I just resized the window. I also had to reset the visual settings back to high after the game's safe mode had set them all to low of course. There's some slight corruption of shadows, but I might just turn them off.

I had to stop playing the game... it has a chance to crash when loading a game, when saving a game, when winning a mission - and it won't let you continue past two missions. It just resets your mission progress.

I get into the game fine and all of the menu works but when I start the tutorial the island view itself is just blank whiteness. I can click through the tutorial and even zoom and see all the windows as well as the minimap but the view itself is still white. Any ideas?

EDIT: it works after the latest Crossover update (12.5.0.27173)
