These are important instructions on how to successfully run Train Simulator 2013 on CrossOver.
-
These components need to be downloaded and installed before you download the game: Steam, .NET Framework 4, NVIDIA PhysX, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, and DirectX 9.
-
You can then download the game through Steam (Grab a soda, because this is going to take a while).
-
Once it is downloaded, quit Steam. DO NOT run the game yet.
-
Go to your Train Simulator 2013 files at this directory: drive_c\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks, which can be found by clicking, in the menu bar, Configure -> Manage Bottles -> Steam (the bottle) -> Advanced -> Open C: Drive in Finder) and change the name on the file "installscript.vdf" to "old_installscript.vdf". This prevents the game from reinstalling the components you installed manually.
-
You can then open Steam and play your game with minimal issues. Go to the "Tips & Tricks" tab for more information on how to run this game the best.
Happy Gaming!
(I received this information from a customer named John Manktelow. I need to give him credit for his greatly valued information.)
