TMNF on Mavericks

Hey guys,

I can see its a bit dusty in the Trackmania section and the last posts were from years ago.
I can't find any information of TM running on mavericks anywhere on google
(surprisingly not even threads with people trying to figure it out)

Earlier I tried running it on win7 through parallels desktop. For some reason it doesn't work as well as I expected it,
it feels like somewhat 20 fps which is pretty bad for a fast game like this where milliseconds matter. Playable but not enjoyable.

So now I saw the only matchup of compatibility is using CrossOver 12.5.0, because older versions are not
supported by mavericks and newer versions don't support TMNF.

Installation and starting the game wasn't really a problem apart from the prompt "could not retrieve your graphics device performance"
I started the game and as soon as I get on a server my screen freezes for 3 secs, comes free and freezes again a couple seconds later.
Finally the game crashes within the first 5mins of starting it.

I am pretty sure I can fix the fps problem in parallels somehow but I really don't like to use parallels at all!
(call me a windows hater or apple fanboi, but I really just love the speed and smooth operation of OSX)

Any idea guys? Please help me out :)

Maybe its possible to run older crossover versions on mavericks somehow or get TM working on the newer ones?
I used to play it on Snow Leopard (I believe) and that wasn't a problem (older verions of crossover)

Any help appreciated!

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been on holidays for the past two weeks 😊 .

I am playing TMNF a lot on Linux myself, but barely ever on OSX. A while ago I tried it on a friend's Mac, and it also crashed after a few minutes. I made a mental note to investigate the problem. But so far I haven't done that yet.

One thing to try is to disable sound. The game uses OpenAL, which CrossOver just passes through to OSX's OpenAL implementation. That works really well on Linux, with 3D sound and all, but the OSX OpenAL implementation is a bit shaky.

I've found that overriding openal32.dll to native can help with games that use it.
