Can't see the characters

Hi, i can't see the characters... here is a screenshot :image

We're happy to help, but we need to know some things about what type of computer you are using. What is your OS, what version of CX are you running, and what video card do you have?

Yeah of course ! I'm sorry, i'm very tired today !

I have Mandriva 2010.1 Powerpack x86_64. And running the Codeweavers 9.2.0's version

I have a Dual-Core E8500@4.24Ghz
4096Mo of G-Skill@1066Mhz
A Sapphire Radeon HD 4870X2 with the last drivers.

Here is for the most important !

Thank you in advance !

Your rig is certainly not the problem! I'm a mac guy myself, so I probably won't be too helpful--but I'll try! What version of Torchlight are you using (where did you get it? Is it the Steam version, or a different one?)

It is a steam version. The version is 1.15

Hi,

Did you install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008?

Hi im going to fix this problem for you in less than 10 seconds

1-4 go to catalist center
4-7 and turn off force antialiasing
turn off force antistropic
let the application decide the graphics quality

this problem is directx not being able to stand up to the forced settings.

this applies to nividia cards and drivers also.

Thx a lot DaBlackFox ! C++ 2008 was already installed ! Thx again !

I have the same problem with the steam version in Linux. Force anti-aliasing is set to off.

When you say the same problem, do you mean exactly like the above picture?

Also what graphics card are you using and is your video cards settings set to defalt?

i got a better fix for you this one will make multisampling work.

got to run windows command and run regedit

then go to

hkey_current_user>software>wine

Make a key called Direct3d if not already done

go into that key and make a string and call it OffScreenRenderingMode then modify it and type backbuffer
make a new string call it multisampling then modify it and type in enabled

that will make multisampling work perfect.

I had the same problem of non-appearing characters, there's two solutions for Torchlight:

  • In the game settings, disable HW skinning
  • In the registry, set UseGLSL to 'disabled'.

The latter is due to Wine detecting an ATI card capable of using GLSL, but some problem in ATI drivers makes this work incorrectly.
