TopoUSA 4.0 DVD installed succesfully under Xandros 3.0 with CodeWeavers 4.2 ( 2.6.9 Kernel ).

As 3D support in TopoUSA requires DirectX 8.1 and above, choose the install option for 2D support only that does not require DirectX.

There are several updates available for TopoUSA 4.0 bringing the release to 4.2. All available patches installed successfully.

The Delorme network update feature "netlink" works correctly in identifying the current patch status for TopoUSA.

Next Steps include validation of Basic Topo 2D functionality, stability and performance and the ability to load additional datasets.

Have now used Topo for a few hours without any major problems (besides printing). Creating large routes, using the drawing tool, searching for places, viewing route profiles, zoom in/out all work fine.

As mentioned, the only problem appears to be with the printing ( and possibly the printing tab). Printing the map to a file works fine. Do not try to print the route or the profile as this causes Topo to hang.

[ if it wasn't for the printing problems this should be rated a gold (for everything less the 3D capability ]

GPS integration is to be tested next.

Tested the Connection with both a Garmin and Magellan handheld GPS. ( how to do this is covered in Hints and Tips ).

My current position and other misc satellite data was displayed correctly on Topo.

Next Step is to Upload and Download Routes between GPS and Topo.

TopoUSA 5.0 is now out. Do you think there would be any (extra) problems to run it under Crossover than there were to run version 4.0 under it?

I tried 5.0 and a message box comes up and says that MDAC needs updating and it must install version 2.8, I thought I would see if CX would install the MDAC update. But to no avail the update hung..
So I installed 5.0 on XP and copied the install directory and then put it in CX. And the good news is it starts up and runs but it cant find any profiles, and since it cant find any of its registry keys this is probably most of the trouble.
