TomTom Home 2

Crossover runs the "TomTom Home 2" app okay but unfortunately it does not provide a connection to any devices so you cannot update or backup your device.

Not much use really.

Platform ASUS Eee 900 Linux Ubuntu 10.04
Indeed, TOMTOM HOME 2 runs.
The device TOMTOM ONE v2 is visible in the list of devices by its inserted 2GB chip KINGSTON (which contains Europe) inserted in USB slot left hand side. But the TOMTOM HOME 2 is not connecting to the device "no device connected".
Trying USB slots right hand side gives also no result.
TOMTOM HOME 2 can see (via Crossloop Linux) the KINGSTON via /media/KINGSTON/

Further investigations:
Platform Windows
The device is always drive:\tomtom (mostly D:\tomtom).
The property report says "TomTom disk" without extra chip. With extra chip it got the name of the chip "Kingston".
How this is working:
TomTom Home scans devices looking for a familiar file. If found, TomTom Home renames that device in "TomTom".
Crossloop seems to be able to scan devices; it must find in /media/ the familiar file, but it is not "authorised" to rename "TomTom disk" or "Kingston" into "TomTom". Crossloop is not the user or the supervisor...
So, the renaming has to be done by the user...
I'll try it...

The application (TomTom One), connected to the USB port, appears in Crossover as follows:
My Computer / Z: / media / Kingston
it has to be
My Computer / e:...y: / TomTom
so it's like an original disk drive at a free station code.

I should like to make in Crossover a disk as T:\TomTom wich could be a "redefinition" of Z:\media\Kingston

After an year I'm using six PC's (desktops, laptops, PDAs, SmartPhone equipped with XP/SP3, Linux Ubuntu 10.04, Android as needed). On holidays without a car I use my small Acer with Linux, with a car I use a IBM/T43 with XP so "serve" TomTom updates.

It seems to me complete nonsens to try a system as TomTom with a very strange "household" to accomodate on a Linux system that's very rigid in its safety procedures... 😅

I will not spend more time in this problem. I know from friends, using Linux, that there are navigation systems of other brands which can run under Linux with Codeweaver Solutions.
