This is the one problem to which I don't believe there is a solid workaround. At least not that I have found. Try all of the regedit tips found here and elsewhere on the net along with adding -dx9 to the exe (can be done from within Steam.) I believe the official Titan Quest forums have some good registry editing tips. With all of these tips in action, I have gotten it to run almost flawlessly (aside from the periodic crashing.)
That being said, here is my almost sure-fire solution. Every time you get to a resurrect shrine, save your progress and restart the game. The most frustrating part of crashing is having to roll through mobs you have already killed. This keeps the constant restarts from being too annoying. Also, try renaming the startup video, if you have not done so already. This will significantly speed up restart times.
Hope this all helps!
