Yay It works... Could not get it to go in WINE but works great in CX.ver7
I Followed the tips and tricks with modifications
Cxoffice. Version 7
1 Install Office XP. CX recommended it go into a win 98 bottle. I had already installed IE6 there.
(I istalled only minimal WORD and ACCESS. I suspect I could now uninstall them if I wanted and Thumbs will work... but I shall wait for a while.😀 )
Then Installed THUMBS PLUS Service Pack 1 Directly. It told me I needed those dependencies (already installed but not detected by the installer program) So I pressed OK and on we went.
It installed.... and finished.
Crossover a desktop icon appeared (but I could have selected no) and a menu item appears also.
When starting TP, a dialog appears each time wanting you to label "drive_z". Access was denied and the FAQ said <<Unless you installed Crossover as root you will not be able to do this. Actually I'm not sure being root would help anyway.>>
Each time I canceled the dialog, and ignored the warning and continued.
My photos are all on a windows partition still. It had no trouble finding it once Mounted, and made thumbnails and opening saving modifing all happened without a hitch. No need to trick it into win 95 pretending etc etc etc.
Happy. I still have 28 days to break Crossover office before Purchasing it.... it is now 95% likely that I will shell out money for a Linux program..... FANTASTIC.
