You can run theWord right from your Window's folder with NO installation.
I run Ubuntu 11.04 using dual boot on a Window 7 machine. I run Linux most of the time but I want theWord Bible program available to BOTH systems without any loss of data or annoying syncing.
I do this very simply. Ubuntu allows you full access to windows folders. So.... I made a Crossover Bottle for theWord program but did not install it into the bottle. Then, start theWord by going to the Crossover menu and select "Run windows software". Navigate to the Window's folder where theWord is installed and start the program. As it starts, select the option to make a launcher on your desktop.
The program will run just fine using the Window's folder and all your data will stay in Windows. You can use theWord from either operating system without any data loss or transfer.
Next time you start theWord, use the desktop icon instead of the Crossover menu. Its easy.
One small glitch. Sometimes the desktop icon won't work. To resolve this, first Click on Places, and then select your windows file system so that it shows in the folder navigator. Then you can shut off Places and use the desktop icon and it will work fine. I'm not sure why this glitch happens but it does happen now and then.
