GOG game version installs, but does not start up

I tried a basic windows xp bottle, directx9. Macbook Pro mid-2010, CX Games 10.1.

The DRM-free GOG version installed without a problem. Installer completed succesfully.

However, just running the witcher 2 start command shows up the launcher (I suppose) and then it disappears again. Nothing else.

cxlog gives this

Running the witcher.exe in the /bin folder of the game runs the game (I did try configurator.exe first, same folder, maybe that helped).

Game starts up, shows intro movies (stuttering sound) and then continues to main menu screen. The sound of a woman singing is ok, no stuttering.

Menu is workable using the keyboard or the mouse (mouse drifts from actual location).

Game starts. Entry text is shown, game world is visible, but no characters are shown. Only weapons are shown (like in the witcher one !).

Still, it seems to run a bit. I'm going to check the wine entries on this one.
...
Wine entries only specify adding a key to disable GLSL, but this did not do anything to my setup.

Anybody else ?

do you have all the required dependencies installed?
I haven't tried it yet, but I plan on it fairly soon. the configuration tool could be of use. try disabling various functions, or putting the settings on absolute lowest and work from there? might also want to try a non Windows XP bottle. try windows vista? cant hurt.

Actually this game not working in CxGames is probably a good thing. Performance is all over the place even on Windows. Not to mention a certain lagginess on various commands(and on nornmal difficulty mode this means a lot of frustration if the char does not move or cast a sign at the moment you press the button)... game's still buggy, very.
