Sims 4 Runs Flawlessly On Crossover 14.x

Just for fun I decided to try installing the Sims 4 using a Sims 3 bottle. Turns out that's all I needed to do - once the Sims 4 was installed, it launched and ran - no questions asked.

The gameplay was a little choppy in my video. The screen resolution was an odd size and I used Simple Screen Recorder to capture the footage which naturally caused a fps hit. But otherwise, it ran great!

I tried to reproduce this, but it always fails.. Now, could you please provide a little more background to how your made this? I'm intrested in:

  1. What OS?
  2. Any patching done to Origin to make it work?
  3. Does the Origin update run without errors?
  4. Any other possible support libs you may have used.
  5. What type of graphics are you using? Intel, Nvidia or AMD?

Currently, I got TS4 to install, both using DVD and network (network when using Origin safe download mode) but it keeps hanging after/at install. I killed the install process, and then I get a play icon on the TS4 installation, but that never starts properly.

Martin

I have gotten it to work Using Linux mint and Ubuntu xfce. Both times on Nvidia cards.

What I did was install and setup a sims 3 bottle. Then Install Origin into that. Finally, install sims 4 from origin.

Origin runs poorly, but once the game is installed, it (the game) runs perfectly fine.

It works in linux with 15.0.0 also. You will have to deactivate the in-game overlay though. Origin crashes at sims 4 launch if it's enabled, but has worked flawlessly so far with it disabled.

Also runs great on 17.10

Can we get some detailed information from those claiming they got it to work? I'm trying to test and recreate some of these claims but running into many errors. If someone gets it to work, let's include some step-by-step details as to how. Thanks!

Here's some of the biggest problems so far:

  • QT install link has changed. Not sure if QT is essential to the process, but if you're using a workaround for this, it would be important to note.
  • Origin fails to install. Period. You can get origin to install using a work around method I've noted on the Origin crossover page, but even then it won't allow you to log in. Kind of difficult to access your library if you can't log in.
