Installing Custom Content

How can you install custom content in Sims 3? Normally you would either:

  1. Double-click on the sims3pack file and it would install automatically. I can't because I can't figure out how to associate .sims3pack files with Sims 3.
  2. Put everything in the Libraries\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder and they are automatically installed the next time you start Sims 3. I can't find the referenced folder for this.

Thanks for any help,

Jeff

Currently your documents folder is linked to your home folder.

This places it at:
[Home]/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads

The tool to associate files with Windows programs is in your crossover control panel. There should be a Knowledge Base article on it.

The easiest way to install community content on The Sims 3 official website is to install it from the in-game browser. Just load up the store in the in-game browser than click over to the section of the Sims 3 website to download community shared content.

I think I may add a tip and tricks about how to add mods, community content and custom content.
