Plays under Crossover Games 7

This was one of the games I wanted most to run.

Tried the Steam download several times, but the app exits on startup and I never quite figured out why.

The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.

Some specific issues:

1) Although video can go to 1400 x 900, I couldn't get it full screen. I always end up with a title bar across the top of the screen

2) A few minor visual glitches. Phones appear in kind of a glowing blue color, and every once in a while there are some very odd artifacts. Not that big of a deal.

Playability and speed is as good as running native in windows.

This is in Crossover Games (Mac) 7.0.0

Sorry - Mis post

I have the DVD install of Dreamfall and I can't seem to get the game to install. It seems to be looking for a data3.cab on a disc 0.

Did you experience any issues like this and if so could you please tell me how you got around them?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't run into that. I checked my DVD -- not .cab files at all, here is what it contains:

setup.exe
setup-1.bin
setup-2.bin
setup-3.bin
license.rtf
autorun.inf
DirectX9_full

I believe the game files are compressed in the .bin files-- is it possible your DVD is damaged?

Adam,

You might try copying all the files from the DVD to a local folder on your hard drive, and installing from there, if you have the disk space for it. The 3 .bin files are just shy of 4 Gb. Let me know if that works.

Thanks,

It seems the drive on my Alu iMac can't read certain files on the DVD for some reason. Maybe something to do with copy protection.

I used another system to copy the files to a network drive and installed from there.

Now the game has installed and has it's launcher icons available, however when I click the icon to run the game, the icon appears in the dock and then just disappears without further explanation.

Unfortunately this dump doesn't appear to be human readable so I have no idea why it's not working. Could you by any chance let me know what your bottle settings are, and what the settings are in your wine config for the bottle?

Thanks

I've acquired another version of this game now, the 6CD version. My first was the DVD for the European market.

The 6CD version appears to install and play, in wine in the audio tab I found driver emulation needs to be turned off or it doesn't play any of the speech and the subtitles fly past way too fast

Not at all. Do you have the latest version of DirectX installed? I do have that installed in my bottle with dreamfall, possible that's the problem?

Dreamfall installed a version of DX9 when the game installed. I found this issue (and the solution) on a Wine message board. It seems I'm not the only one who encountered that issue.

There doesn't appear to be any negative effects of un-ticking driver emulation though so I'm happy.

Apologies for the edit.
