Crashes on new MacBook Pro immediately after selecting 'Play'

My brother just got the new 15" Retina MacBook Pro (the MC976xx/A model).

I have installed Skyrim for him on Steam using the instructions on the "Tips & Tricks" page although as soon as I select play on the launcher nothing happens. I have also used winetricks as instructed on the Skyrim's appdata page on winehq to install d3dx9_42, vcrun2008, and xact. I also removed the video file from "Skyrim/Data/Video". from "Skyrim/Data/Video". Please help!!!

Also, when attempting to install DirectX 10 I am getting the message: "CPU does not meet minimum requirement; Streaming SIMD Extensions support required".

You should submit a ticket. What version of Crossover are you running?

You do not need to install DX10. Skyrim is a DX9 game

He is using 11.1.0

I have the same problem with Gray Matter. Believe it uses directx9
