Installer terminates after "The Elder Scrolls Online is preparing to install"

I used the crosstie and launched a downloaded installer binary "Install_ESO.exe".
It shows a progress bar "The Elder Scrolls Online is preparing to install", and terminates after it has reached 100%.
No error message is shown. Nothing obvious can be seen in the logs. This is on Fedora 23, with open source drivers for a radeon r9 280.
