Installed just fine. Cannot get past the Bethesda credit screen.

So after much wrestling. I have Oblivion - GOTY edition installed. Shimmering isles and a few extra mods installed. However, when I run it, all I get is a "Oblivion has encountered a critical error" 4 seconds into the Besthesda credits screen. The launcher says it is not able to detect my video card, so it automatically sets everything to defualt. Don't know if that has anything to do with it, but thought I'd add it.

I'm not sure what to do. I'm super annoyed. This is the 4th game I've tried to install with Crossover games and has NOT worked. All the games I have tried to install are medaled gold or silver. So what gives?? Does this program work with any game???? Frustrated beyond measure!

Hope someone has had a similar problem and knows a fix!

We'll need some more information to get you sorted.
Are you running crossover on a mac or on linux?
What are your system specs, which graphics card do you use, which driver is it running?
Are you installing from a cd or using steam?

I've had mostly good results with crossover, although every program needs some tinkering with settings left and right.

Thanks for the reply. And I apologize for the lack of info. I cannot believe that slipped my mind. I was very angry when I posted, so perhaps that is why. On the launch screen after it says it cannot figure out my graphics card and sets everything to medium settings default, I go into options and it has my graphics card labeled as Nnvidia Geforce 9400 GT. I have installed via cd. Well, dvd, but you know what I mean. I have installed all official and unofficial patches.

Thanks for anything you can advise me. I would so love to have at least one game work for me. lol

I think you can safely ignore the message about your graphics card not being recognised. I got the same message first time I ran the game, but it's running flawless with all settings at their maximum.

You are running oblivion from a dvd, so maybe your problem is related to the copy protection. The official word on this is:
The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.

Unfortunately for you I run crossover on linux, so I can't really give any detailed help. I'm sure someone with a mac will pop in though.

I do not have to use the dvd. I did not think the video card adapter choice would have mattered all that much since it was an Nvidia as well. I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to help. I very much doubt anything will come of this post. I posted for the other games on here and was soundly ignored. But here's to hoping I suppose.

Thanks anyways, I do appreciate the thought.

Here's some other stuff you could try:
disable the intro movies in the oblivion.ini file (it'll be located in the "my documents/my games" folder that crossover makes somewhere on your system)

If that doesn't help, just remove/rename the video folder in your oblivion installation folder.

That would be this text? SIntroSequence=bethesda softworks HD720p.bik,2k games.bik,game studios.bik,Oblivion Legal.bik

Well. I've been screwing with it for quite some time now. I actually figured out some of the mods I installed apparently mess with it. However, when I try to load a saved game, it immediately crashes.
