Latest Snow Leopard graphics update breaks Oblivion

Anybody else had this problem? Oblivion was working, running in a virtual desktop to get around the mouse pointer sliding to the bottom of the screen. Then I installed the Snow Leopard graphics update on 21 August, and now the mouse pointer disappears in the Oblivion launcher and I can't select any of the menu options. Other games are unaffected, KOTOR works fine, steam runs fine. I've tried running Oblivion directly, without the launcher, but that doesn't even start at all.

This is a shame, since the driver update makes native Half-Life 2 run really well, so I don't want to roll back.

I'm running Mac OS 10.6.4, Crossover Games 9.1

I got a fix for you, it worked for me.

You have to disable steam community in game (the shift-tab overlay).
In steam, at the top click on steam -> settings -> in-game (tab) -> uncheck enable steam community in-game.

Let me know if it works for you :) .

Worked a treat! Awesome - thanks a lot!

Just FYI, this issue seems to actually have been due to a change in Steam, not the Snow Leopard graphics update. The Steam change caused problems for a bunch of other games, too.

I am having the same problem with the mouse cursor trailing off the bottom of the screen constantly when playing Oblivion in Steam. (The copy of Oblivion I have without Steam gets to the opening screen but crashes when I try to create a new game, open a saved game, or continue from a saved game.) I've tried the tips listed on the Tips & Tricks section here and have read through the other forum posts.

I'm running CG 9.1 on a 21" iMac (early 2010 model) with 4 GB of RAM and ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256 MB RAM.

Update: I changed Steam to run in a windowed size. Voila! Mouse problem fixed. Very strange. It is running so pretty! Yay! I have missed this game.
