The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Forum

Greetings,
I am running Oblivion 1.2.0416 on Ubuntu 10.04 using CrossOver Games 9.0.0
I have a SoundBlaster Audigy and an NVidia GeForce 9800 GT with 1gig of VRAM and 2gig System RAM

I have tried the regedit tricks listed at:
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=2407;tips=1

I have also tried modifying the Oblivion.ini file as described at:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Linux#Setup_Wine_for_running_Oblivion

I am not getting any sound effects. Does anyone know how to overcome this obstacle?

Same problem for me. Tried switching to Emulator audio mode and no dice.

Did you guys try to install an mp3 codec as described in the last tip&trick on this site?

I had some problems with oblivion initially that were sound related. They were fixed once I installed a working mp3 codec into the bottle.

Just make sure you can play mp3s on your 'native' machine and use emulation mode. I have had no problems. Emulation mode helps with most problems dealing with sound. Make sure the 'effects' volume is not muted, sounds silly, but it happens. 😀

PS. Always install the latest version of crossover games. 9.2.1 is the latest as of now.
